The Alaskan Malamute, one of the oldest arctic sled dogs, is named after the Inuit tribe called the Mahlemut Indians who settled along the shores of Kotzebue Sound in the upper part of Alaska. These animals pulled sleds and without them travel would be impossible at times.

Since 1970, we have worked hard to breed to the American Kennel Club (AKC) standard. We value the dog's working ability and incorporate their natural instinct to pull in backpacking, sledding and weight pull. We also challenge them to listen and follow instructions/directions by involving them in   conformation, obedience companion dog and agility.

This breed can accomplish "anything" but the owner/handler needs to make it interesting and challenging.  Malamutes do not like repetition and will become stubborn and non compliant.

Our Mission

Our commitment to the breed revolves around the AKC Breed Standard, genetic screening prior to any breeding, evaluating the conformation of the parents, examining their temperament, reviewing the pedigrees and all their genetic tests and then discussing the potential breeding.  Once the breeding is accomplished and the puppies are born, we encourage visitors to interact with the puppies.

We match the puppies activity level with their new family.  Before the puppies leave for their new home they are wormed, micro-chipped, receive a complete medical exam from the vet and obtain their first set of shots.

“Purposefully bred purebred dogs brought to you by AKC preservation breeders.
We are so proud of what we do for the next generation of happy, healthy canine family.”
— Bill Shelton, AKC judge and breeder
