Home of Champions, Performance, Working and Companion Dogs.
Onak Alaskan Malamutes has selectively bred, shown and worked Alaskan Malamutes since 1970. We have produced many champions of record, obedience titled dogs, backpacking and sledding dogs. We look for family homes and act as a resource for dog related questions and assist in showing, training and creating a well behaved family companion dog.
We are recognized by The American Kennel Club (AKC) as a Breeder Of Merit which acknowledges breeders who meet a high standard through selectively breeding genetically cleared dogs.

Alaskan Malamutes are great dogs but usually not for the first time owner. They demand attention and failing to receive enough will howl and dig holes if they do not get enough training and exercise.
Ready to take the next step? You too can be owned by an Alaskan Malamute.
General Appearance
The Malamute is a powerful and substantially built dog with a deep chest and strong compact body and a thick coarse dense coat to protect them from the elements. They are different form the Siberian Husky, their cousin, who is more commonly used as a racing sled dog. Malamutes were used to carry freight and were the main source of transportation. The Mahlemut Indians used these dogs to transport them out onto the ice and snow so they could hunt for food and transport it back to the village. Malamutes come in various colors (seal and white, black and white, red and white, wolf gray and white, and all white) but the most common is wolf gray and white. This breed is affectionate and friendly and is a tireless working dog.

Not all dogs are show dogs but all dogs must be well behaved at home and in their community.
